Cloverly Safeway is not rebuilding

There is a rumor going around on Nextdoor.com that the Cloverly Safeway is proposing to rebuild. Settle down folks, that is not true.

What is actually happening is that the owner of the Safeway is proposing to make technical adjustments to its parking lot easement. It proposes to reduce the official number of parking spaces from 225 to 180 so it can give away the rights to the currently abandoned parking lot (“Parcel N5”). Burger King is considering opening a new location on Parcel N5.

The official Notice of Application by the property owner’s attorney is provided below.

Burger King held two informational meetings in 2017 for residents to learn more about their plans to open a new store in the Cloverly shopping center. These events were advertised on Nextdoor by the Good Hope Estates Civic Association and the Cloverly Civic Association.

  1. That Safeway is the crappiest and saddest grocery store ever. I make the long drive to Wegmans and Whole Foods in Columbia. They need to knock down this crap Safeway.
