Summer Camps Guide 2019

Montgomery County offers hundreds of summer programs through the Parks and Recreation Departments. The easiest way to check the availability and register for programs is at www.activeMONTGOMERY.org. You can call 240-777-6840 or visit any Montgomery County Recreation facility with questions. You can also register by fax or mail (see the Guide for details). You can pick up a copy of the guide at most Montgomery County Park, Recreation, Library, or government buildings. Hurry up though: registration opened in January, and spaces fill up fast!

“Woodland Horse Center offers two summer programs for children. Pony Pals Camp is geared toward 5 – 7 year-olds who will be introduced to horses and horseback riding.

Horsemanship Camp is for ages 8-15; Campers are placed into groups of 8 or less based on their riding abilities: Beginners learn to walk, steer, trot—posting, sitting and half-seat, the basics of cantering and going over poles and small jumps. Intermediate campers will work on position—balanced seat, cantering in groups, cantering poles, jumping higher fences and riding in the field. Advanced campers will also work on position— cantering and hand galloping in groups, jumping a course of larger fences, riding without stirrups and lateral movements.”

“Forcey Day Camp is an outreach ministry of Forcey Bible Church, located in Silver Spring, Maryland. We have been running for over 40 years, and in that time we have grown to help support not only the community of Forcey Bible Church but also the community surrounding Forcey Bible Church. We are a gospel centered, activities based day camp. We service children who have completed kindergarten up to those who have completed 6th grade. We go on weekly field trips, twice weekly pool outings, and have plenty going on around camp on a daily basis.”

Our unique science and technology summer camp programs are designed to meet the needs of children ages 4-15. Carefully researched STEM based science lessons help engage students in observation, measurement, identification of properties, and experimentation involving life, earth, and physical science concepts.
